5 months

Sophie is still super-sweet, and we absolutely adore her! She's growing exponentially, too big even for some of her 6-month tops. Giggles are sparse, except Gavin can ALWAYS get her to laugh even when Jacob and I have been trying with no success. This month Sophie took her first airplane rides and has now visited 6 states. She's dangerously close to rolling over.
Hopefully this isn't TOO many photos of her... Is there such a thing? ;)

sporting the patriotic shirt for Memorial Day because we're not sure it will still fit her for the 4th of July...

always happy in the bath + this shot shows more of her awesome rolls :)

Easter (better late than never)

We had a great Easter weekend, especially the egg hunt and feast we had in Cincinnati.

opening each egg as he went along--excited to find chocolate here

I'm sure she'll love the hunt next year.

cousin conference - over skittles

Sophie and her cousin James are only 5 weeks apart
Emily made this incredible hazelnut dacquoise. It was even yummier than it was beautiful!

Of course everyone dressed in their Sunday best for church on Easter.
Sophie had a wardrobe malfunction during church--it involved bodily fluids--so she's wearing something different for the bunny ear pictures we took after church (below).

4 months

Sophie is 4 months old today! She's smiling more often, and we've even managed to extract a few giggles. But just a few. She sleeps like an absolute champion, which makes the days with her even more delightful. Here's the picture extravaganza from the past month.

She's happiest in the bath.

She's just started enjoying sitting in the Bumbo chair:

 Plotting her next move...

3 months old

Sophie is 3 months old!
She's a HUGE fan of the bath.
She's still sweet as ever, but you have to earn it if you want to see her smile. She regularly sleeps 6-7 hours at night, and she seems to be cutting a tooth (I know you think I'm crazy, but it's true). We're pretty sure she'll have blue eyes like her dad. She's also a huge talker, cooing all the time. It's precious -- like everything else about her. :)
This was a cold day at the park, but I wanted to document her first slide and first swing.
Gavin couldn't be left out--of the baby swing.

first swim (she LOVED it)

This onesie is such a fun gift from a British friend.
She's at her happiest when she's with her big brother. And he adores her too.

blessing day

Sophie is full of surprises, and her blessing weekend was no different. Firstly, my grandparents surprised me by coming for the weekend. I had no idea they'd be here, and I was in complete disbelief! It was WONDERFUL to have them here! We also had my parents and my brother Bob's family here for the festivities.

A snow storm came through starting Saturday night, so church was cancelled. Jacob got special permission for Sophie to be blessed at home, which worked out except that his parents were stranded in Cincinnati and couldn't come up for Sophie's blessing. :(
Even though we didn't go to church, we all still dressed up and took the requisite pictures.
LOVE this girl!

I love her dress too.
all but one of the cousins on my side: Dean, Isaac, Gavin, Sophie, Ellis
(We missed you, Nora!)
Daddy's little angel--the adoration is completely reciprocal
Because of my grandparents' surprise appearance, we got this fantastic 4-generation photo-op. I love the matriarchal line here (my daughter, my Mom, her mom). And I love the women I'm standing with!

These two - and their facial expressions - are almost too much!
